Mobeen Iqbal is a quantitative analyst for Multi-Asset Systematic Strategies within the Quantitative Research Investments (QRI) division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals. QRI supports our investors with timely and actionable insights, manages systematic products and solutions, and enables scale through adoption of common platforms.
In this role, Dr. Iqbal helps design, develop, and manage Systematic Global Macro strategies with a focus on the Foreign Exchange (FX) and Rates asset classes in particular. He has research expertise in multi-asset systematic strategy development on both the sell-side and buyside, as well as academic research background in studying FX derivatives markets.
Before joining Fidelity in 2022, Dr. Iqbal was vice president in the iShares Product Research and Innovation team at BlackRock, where he designed and developed new ETF and index products, most recently with a focus on the fixed income and commodities asset classes. Prior to that, he was assistant vice president within the Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) Research team at Barclays Investment Bank, where he contributed to the research and origination efforts of the global QIS index structuring platform with a particular focus on multi-asset alternative risk premia strategies. He has also previously held research positions at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and Brevan Howard Asset Management.
Dr. Iqbal earned his Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University College London, his Master of Science in mathematical modelling and scientific computing from Oxford University, his Master of Research in computational finance from the University College London, and his PhD in financial economics from Imperial College London. In addition, Dr. Iqbal maintains a visiting researcher position with the finance faculty of Imperial College Business School, where he continues to conduct academic research studying asset pricing anomalies across asset classes.
